The Anti-Ragging Cell at Potti Sriramulu Chalavadi Mallikharjuna Rao College of Engineering and Technology-Autonomous (PSCMRCET-Autonomous) is a vital component of the institution’s mission to foster a supportive and equitable academic environment. Anti-Ragging Cell is a dynamic body committed to the curbing of ragging and ensuring a safe, respectful and inclusive academic environment for all students. Established in alignment with directives from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the cell recognizes ragging as a serious offense, necessitating robust preventive measures and stringent disciplinary actions in educational institutions. Guided by the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 (from R.K. Raghavan Committee recommendations/ appointed by the Supreme Court in 2006), the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997 (Act No. 26 of 1997) and AICTE/APSCHE/JNTUK guidelines, the Anti-Ragging Cell at PSCMRCET is tasked with overseeing, preventing, and addressing any ragging incidents on campus. Unwavering commitment of AR Cell ensures that the campus remains a paragon of safety, respect, and opportunity for every student. Through its vigilant monitoring, effective grievance redressal, awareness initiatives, and collaboration with college authorities, the cell ensures students can pursue their academic and personal goals in an atmosphere free from fear, harassment or intimidation. The Anti-Ragging Cell operates through three key components to promote student well-being and create an enriching learning environment:
A) Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC)
Responsible for the formulation and oversight of anti-ragging policies, providing strategic direction, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
B) Anti-Ragging Squad (ARS)
A group responsible for conducting surveillance, monitoring high-risk areas, and responding immediately to any incidents of ragging. The squad plays a key role in promoting awareness and preventing ragging.
C) Anti-Ragging Flying Squad (ARFS)
A dynamic team that performs unannounced checks and swiftly addresses any reported or suspected ragging incidents, ensuring a secure and disciplined campus environment.
D) Quick Response Team (QRT)
Is responsible for responding immediately to any reported or suspected cases, coordinating with Anti-Ragging committee, Squad, Flying Squad, authorities, and staying accessible 24/7 through dedicated helplines for student support.
This structured and collaborative approach ensures that PSCMRCET Autonomous maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, while fostering a safe, inclusive, respectful academic and positive learning environment for all students on compus.
